Rumor Department

OK, it is a little more solid than a rumor. Chances are good that a 18,000 square foot grocery store will fill the vacant land at the southeast corner of State and Main, next to the Ivanhoe. I heard this at the Downtown Racine Corporation's annual meeting, via director Devin Sutherland.

  1. A "traditional" grocer, or another high-end gourmet grocer?

Just so its not a Sav-a-lot or something like that. Trader Joes would be nice. Or something like Sendiks.

  3. I would tell you more if I could. But whatever it is, if it is, it will be an improvement over a vacant lot.

Oh please don't let it be a low end store like Sav-A-Lot. I guess the former city leaders figured people who live on this side of town don't deserve any better, I'll never shop there.

Ohhhhh a Trader Joes would be so GREAT!!! I have my fingers crossed.
