Tired of the "cold hard slaps in the face," Park High School economics and government teacher Anthony Arndt issued the following announcement in a JT commentary today:
"I am proud of who I am. I am proud to call myself a teacher."
Arndt failed to mention the level of his self esteem or whether he felt special.

Maybe we should all hold and hands and say the same thing. That way anyone who feels the same way, but is afraid to proclaim it, will have the chance to show their pride.
Teaching is an honorable profession.
But most anyone loses respect or admiration when he demands it for himself, which seems to be the point of this commentary.
"Where is boasting? It is excluded..."
Anonymous comes out of the closet....kinda. Denis's favorite "detractor" has a spot on the blogger scene.
The blogger formerly known as anon is now Conscious Thought.

Good one Wade.
You are right Preachrboy. It is an honorable profession. I know many a wonderful teacher.
I of course think that the politicization of the profession is the problem. That is, because public school teachers are paid better if they are able to persuade politicians and voters, you will frequently see these rather pathetic demands for respect.
If teachers were paid relative to the success of their students, we would likely have more good teaching and less whining.
anon, you have chosen the name consciousthoughtworld? Please explain?
