Smoking Ban Myth Smoked Out

I saw a handwritten sign on the door of a bar the other day as I was driving by. It read: We Are Not A Smoke Free Bar.

Obviously, the bar owner would like to dispell the notion that his/her bar is smoke free. But at the same time, he/she dispells the notion, frequently suggested by the anti-smoking zealots, that a smoking ban would be good for bars.

Where can I find a smoke free bar in Racine? I'd love to go. The only thing that keeps me from going more frequently to bars is the smoke.

Hey non smoker, I am a non smoker as well. Java Vino on Main is smoke free but it would be a stretch to call it a bar. But it is nice and I like it. Other than that, I don't know of any. Sustainable Racine had published a list of smoke free bars and restaurants, but that enterprise proved to be unsustainable. I wish I could offer more help to you.

Thanks Denis, I already go to Java Vino and enjoy it but you are correct, it's not exactly a bar. I'm pretty in tune to all the non smoking restaurants in town because that is very important to me. If there were a no-smoking bar I guess I would have heard about it by now.
If there isn't at least a non-smoking area in a restaurant I just won't eat there. I know many people who feel the same way as I do.

Sustainable was unsustainable, haha, that's pretty funny :)

I think this is pushing Racine in the right direction. Personally, I think a smoke free Racine is a wonderful idea. Then it doesn't force the bar owners and employees to be exposed to so much second hand smoke. As a young adult growing up in Racine I'd like to be able to choose if i get lung cancer from Second Hand Smoke thank you.

I hope smokers don't take offense when we want certain places to be smoke free. We don't dislike them...just the smoke!
