Election Musings

A few friends of mine were musing the other day about election opponents for John Lehman or Bob Turner. I was not there but my name came up as a potential opponent of Bob Turner. And it was quickly detirmined that in liberal Racine I had no chance of winning, at which time they began considering a moderate Democrat for the task.

Now I happen to agree with my friend's assessment of my chances of winning, being slim to none. Their assessment was that I was too far to the right - not for them - but for Racine voters.

I am a bit of a radical, I will admit. But what am I radical about? I am radically in favor of freedom and radically opposed to those things that threaten our freedoms.

Does this make me unelectable in Racine? Perhaps so. Should I moderate my views on freedom to appeal to a wider audience? Sure, if I want to live a life as a political slut. No thanks.

I would be happy to have you run..and as Sam said you just might win..What a great time to have you win too..with the likely return of the more conservative party returning to Madison on the coat tails of Scott walker. Perhaps my earlier assessment was too harsh.
I think perhaps your involvement in the South side historic district preservation blockage might bode well for you, with the South side voters. On the other hand I think the idea of getting a candidate to oppose Mr. Turner who would be more to the center, if not on the right is a goal we should pursue.
As for Slutting yourself up..LOL, of course not..

Thanks for your comments yos, anon and UP. Actually UP, I think your assessment was accurate. It is what it is. But there may come a day when even Racine area residents are ready to vote for a consistent advocate for freedom. If so, I might give it a shot at that time.

I was looking more carefully at the Turner district last night, and I suspect the migration of population on the South Side and near north side may have changed this district a bit over the past several years. When was the last time Turner had a real competitor for his seat..Was it Dickert 10 years ago?? Maybe the voters have changed, but no serious candidate has been available to represent them. This could be the tide we need.

Run. Now, more than ever, we need good people in office.

If Cathy Stepp got elected, you can too. If Ronald Reagan got people who think they're Democrats to vote for him, you can too.

Do it, Denis!

You should fine someone to run against Mason. He is ripe for a challenge.
