The Fear Business

An election is upcoming in Racine so it is time to bash businesses in search of votes. One aldermanic candidate hoping to clean up Racine wants to "single out businesses that are scaring people."

My opinion: we would be far better off if we singled out people with an odd paranoia about businesses.

I am sure there will be some disagreement here so I challenge anyone to name one local business that they fear. Then, ask yourself if it is the business that you fear or the patrons of the business.

How 'bout we single out politicians that scare business?

Denis, Either you live in a cave, or you do not follow the scandals that emminate from the business world.
I know a business law prof in Florida that says if she could round up thousands of Law students to go over the SEC filings and all the other records, she could send thousands upon thousands of criminal business people to jail.
But, it will never happen. Corrupt business, it seems, is next to godliness, for those on the right.

anon 2, certainly you will then share with us the businesses in Racine that scare you. And by the way, you are off topic here. The issue is local businesses that scare people, not national businesses that file fraudulent reports to the SEC. Please do try to respond to the topic being discussed. Thank you.

I, and my Mother, have both been hosed by several contractors in Racine over the last few years.
(I won't name them, because there is nothing more I can do about the matters).

As a member of a 50 year family business in Racine, I can tell you that 'buyer beware' is synonomous for letting businesses legally hose unsuspecting, moral, Americans.

The dark side of free markets.

anon, I realize that there are business people who will cheat customers. And, if you have been in business for fifty years as you claim, then you know that customers sometimes cheat businesses. But the good news is that customers and especially businesses will be better off, over time, if they behave honorably. There are bad people in all walks of life anon. As such, there is a dark side to any economic system because there is a dark side to human nature. But in a free market economy, there are incentives to behave honorably. Not so much in other systems.
