Cost of Global Warming?

In an editorial calling for wind power turbines on Lake Michigan, the JT argues that the price of fossil fuels will increase, in part, because of "the cost of global warming." They offered no explanation as to why global warming would result in higher fossil fuel prices, as though it is so obvious that the reasons need not be mentioned. But it is not obvious to me.

So I will open up the question to readers. Assuming global warming exists, would it drive up fuel costs, and if so, why?

Global warming cultists are leftists (I’m looking at you anon) and dupes (again, looking at you anon) that are trying to scare voters into socialism. Socialism (with all it’s inefficiencies, mediocrities and waste) will drive up the cost of everything by supplying less of it, including energy.

Well first off, global warming (the greenhouse effect) is real, there is no questioning that. But that's beside the point. It would not raise gas prices. One of the ways we lower gas prices is to get out of the war in Iraq and the Middle East. Not just that it would lower gas prices, but it would lower taxes too. That's why you have to be against the war in the Middle East if you are for lower taxes.

I know that a child wrote this so I'll be particularly gentle. The fact that you wrote "global warming" followed by "greenhouse effect" in parentheses shows that you think they are the same. They are not. The Earth may very well be warming up without anything to do with greenhouse gases. Think about that hardly understood component of global warming, solar activity. How sweet of you to think that taxes in this country will ever go down for any reason, but they certainly will not go down if we leave Iraq. I suggest that you make a sign that says "Nuclear power" on it and carry it around.
