The More Things Change...

President elect Obama and the Dems appear to be pushing for a massive bailout of the auto industry. I thought huge corporations, driven as they are by greed, are the problem. Besides, cars contribute to global warming. Wouldn't we all be better off if big government stopped rewarding their big money friends who are intent on destroying the environment? I was hoping for change.

I'm not sure that cars contribute to global warming, but I am sure that the UAW contributes like hell to Barry and the Dems.

So NOW you're concerned about corporate bailouts when a dem gets to the white house.

Funny how you've not made a single complaining post on your blog about the corporate welfare programs that were made available under Bush's administration.

There's that good ole' fashion "diverse thought" at work, right?

Anon, how did I know you would point this out? OK, you got me on that one. It is true that I wrote nothing about the bailout. The reason is that I admittedly have a diverse range of views on the subject. In other words, I didn't know whether I was for it or against it. I did know that I wasn't fully comfortable with it, but I didn't think that opinion to be blogworthy. The car thing is much easier to figure out. If some car makers go belly up it would certainly be harmful to the workers and investors involved but it would probably be the best thing for this country insofar as an inefficient, outdated, union run failed business model would eventually be replaced by a better operation. By the way, the recent corporate bailouts were a bipartisan operation. We should all be suspicious of those.

Barry's pushing hard for the bailout NOW so Bush is saddled with the fallout if it fails and/or if the American public turns in disgust. If it succeeds, Barry takes credit while soliciting more funds from the UAW.

IMHO, this bailout should not happen. GM needs to follow the business model of their non-union counterparts at Honda...then, and only then, ask the American people to consider investing again in their company. GM has been losing market share for decades and has failed to address their development shortcomings - why should we believe they won't just piss away a bailout! (excuse my "french" - this topic makes my blood boil.)

I defended GM when environmentalists, etc. demanded that they stop making SUVs when they were selling like hotcakes. However, none of GMs millionaire marketing team could predict that if gas went up a buck or two a gallon then people would stop buying SUVs and want something efficient. NOW they want a bailout.

Live by the free market - die by the free market. A big steaming pile of turds for GM.

Cal, Denis, and Nemo have it here. Denis and I discussed the Financial Bailout yesterday, and while I'm not a big fan of the bailout; The Govt. is heavily involved in the Banking/ Credit industry. with FDIC the Fed, etc. And competition from Foreign banks or Non govt. financial institutions don't exist.
The difference with the Auto Bailout is obvious if we give them 25-50 billion more they'll run out of money in 2 years. It'ss not bailing out an auto industry it's a big Govt handout to the UAW! So neither the Industry or the UAW will change it's Biz model.
BTW the Foreign Auto makers are doing OK even those who have American workers.
If Bush can do one more thing to make America Better, allow GM to go into Bankruptcy, Ford and Chrysler will follow. The union can be ignored and new employees are lining up to take their jobs at $40.00 an hour.
Thus the Jack booted thugs who held the US auto industry hostage for 70 years will wither and die. BTW the Same Jack-booted thugs are running our govt offices and School systems. It's gonna be even harder to get rid of those "Moochers". U may have heard that Philadelphia, Detroit, NYC and other Govt's. are getting in line for the bailout money now too! I hope they declare B'ruptcy too?

This is the future - get in line and scream for your free stuff! This applies to business (especially unionized ones), local government, choo choo projects, cars for homeless starving high school students (so they can go to college), and save the whales through CO2 limits programs.

Sen Barry O' will resign his Senate seat on Sunday. Now he won't have to Vote on an important issue regarding the GM/ UAW Bail out(aka the let's not hold liberal Michigan responsible & welfare act).

If this guy was any more "Present" he would be dangerous. One more time he skips out on an important issue. The Ever Present Barack Obama. He doesn't have to resign his seat until Jan 20th. at Noon Eastern.

Well Denis, you should know me and my amazing ability to dissect your theories.

I'm suspicious of corporate welfare as well, i'm of the opinion that if you can't compete, one needs to find a way or stop trying to altogether. A demise in US auto industry in my opinion isn't a particularly bad thing.

Unions are an issue in this debacle among a host of other issues.

Is that the "Anon"? I can't believe he agrees with Denis on anything!! I just checked out back and Dogs and Cats are lying down together!! Prepare for Armageddon!!

Actually refreshing Anon. It would be great if you were Anon# 9/11 or something. No one is tracking u, but it would be nice to be able reference a consistent thread, since u obviously like to contribute. I'm Anon too, but I always use the same moniker. If you want to read my assorted postings u may disagree but I'm consistent.

Urban Pioneer, i'm the Anon that always makes the most sense. Not hard to differentiate between myself and the other anons.

I can agree with anybody that possesses a valid argument, that's the true definition of "diverse thought"

Anonymous said...

Urban - Pariah Jeep is some of the anons and I'm sure that you can guess which are his, but of course, he makes far less sense than anon 4:41 . . .

Anonymous said...

3:07 anon, exhibiting more of that "diverse thought" that seems to be so popular in here, huh?

Anonymous said...

"The Anon" - do you have a brain? Do you work? Are you diverse - do the organ systems in your body argue about who is more diverse and important? Is "diversity of thought" being right sometimes and wrong others, or is it just a way to prove to pseudo intellectuals (like your self) that you are always right?

Why do you bother reading this blog if you are so otherworldly intelligent? Maybe you should put down that crack pipe of diversity mantra-ing and start your own blog! Or you can just post your drivel over at Kay's place - trust me, your nonsense will be an instant hit and they'll be calling for you to run against Ryan -

BIGFOOT--I get it. Just another union bashing blog. The auto industry is going down not because of bad unions, but because of bad management!

4:55 anon, your eerie obsession with my personal life is alarming, but i'll give you some basic info i'm sure you're dying to know.

Do i work? Kinda...after i obtained 3 college degrees, sold a portfolio of real estate holdings i've owned since age 19 when i bought my 1st investment, and invented a device for the aftermarket auto industry, then subsequently sold to a major manufacturer for a nice penny,...i don't really work like most people who choose to be employees. I chose to be an entrepreneur.

And yea, i actually do have my own blog, but you won't be able to harass me there. sorry.

I AM THE ONE AND ONLY TRUE ANONYMOUS ON BLOGGER PERIOD.

Go ahead click on my name and see for yourself. The rest of you are simply posers.

Anon 5:36 everything you say about yourself in your post is wonderful... but meaningless if it can't be backed up or verified. So I say you are a liar. Also, I know why you don't direct anyone to your blog. Because then it would become painfully obvious that no one visits your blog except a few friends, which are actually you posting with made up names.

And yeah, the few entries you've made on your blog are so pathetic and pointless that no one would care anyway. Admit it, you only come here to harass others, not the other way around.

5:36 anon - you really need to stop breaking the Prozacs in half. I asked rhetorical questions and I honestly don't give a flying shit who you are and what you do.

I guess I nned to start logging in since this has truned into Highlander with anon 11:42 and his "there can be only one" routine.

bitter ed

Anonymous said...

Oh c'mon bitter ed, it's all in jest. Maybe anon 5:36 has a bunch of extra "half Prozacs" you can borrow? Yes, I am a firm believer in logging in, in fact I encourage it. That is the very reason I have "the" Anonymous account. I am the only anonymous poster who can be traced back to my previous posts.

But all this is old hat. The anonymous poster argument has been beaten to death.

As far as the Highlander reference, it's true there is only one Anonymous. Look on the bright side, I may not live forever...

but my legacy will!

BWAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAAHAHAHAHH!!!!

I know you are jesting but King Dipshit isn't. He (she?) reminds me of that dork who used to boast about beating Tony Romo's dad in basketball when he was in high school. Talk about grasping for identity straws.

I'll get a Google account one of these days . . .
