Children Used

Two local liberal organizations, Racine Unified and Voces de la Frontera, will be using children next Tuesday to promote their political agenda of electing Democrats.

Unfortunately, it is children who will be most harmed by their own political activism because Racine Unified's primary political goal is to prevent their own students from attending private schools, even if those schools provide an excellent education at a lower price.

considering there is no data to substantiate your claim that private schools provide better education than public schools, i would encourage the two organizations to continue their efforts.

so you'd like RUSD to promote and support failing private schools too?

Dear Anon 8:20

Evidence like Graduation rate, absenteeism, academic achievement, College preparedness. All don for far less money per student.
Anon you must be in public Education, only an Public school educator could allow themselves to be so blind to facts, evidence and basic math.
Therefore continuing to use your student base a s political tools is abusive and bad for their future understanding of the market and political system.

urban pioneer, even though you champion private schools, you have no data, evidence or facts to substantiate your claim either. Until the theory is proven (which it hasn't) you're blowing hot air.

I'd like to see facts, not blanket anecdotes.

Anon 8:22, I would like RUSD to educate children rather than use them as political pawns.

Anon, how about we let parents decide how to interpret the facts regarding the schools. How about freedom of choice? Of course that is the last thing RUSD activists want, knowing full well that many parents would yank their kids out of public schools in a heartbeat. And this is why they are using the children.

Voces de la Frontera is going into underprivelaged neighborhoods to make sure that people go out and vote on election day. If these people say they have voted, fine. If they haven't yet, but will, good. If they do not want to vote, ok. But if they aren't voting due to the fact that they can't reach their polling place, the organization is offering them a ride. They don't take into consideration who the person is voting for. Yes, the majority of these people will vote Democrat, but they will not be turned down if they were to vote Republican. It is our civil right and duty to vote, and some people will need help doing so.

Michael, it is my view that students should not be used, especially during school hours, to engage in partisan political activity. But I guess we will just have to agree to disagree on that one.

Michael Gibson said...

It's non-partisan Denis. And the students are not forced to do this. They need a signed permission slip from their parents. I don't see how you think that getting students involved in the political process is wrong.

Voces De La Fronteres is a leading advocate for illegal Aliens, and is known to support voter fraud and theft in our community and others.
If it's important for our students to be in school 5 days a week 40 weeks a year, then why a day off for this purpose?? If a student wants to be involved, the Voting goes until 8 pm and they could participate after school.

Dear Anon, I agree with Dennis and many Public School teachers who vote with their own children, and enroll their own kids in Private Schools. In many urban communities the Private School enrollment by Public employees, (esp. teachers), is over 50%. Milwaukee, Detroit, Chicago, are just a few examples. (Racine is high but i don't know the percentages).
Now if the educators would choose to pay extra to send their kids to a non Public school, why wouldn't I?
Well in fact I did send mine to private, and kids from the same neighborhood, and life circumstances have turned out much different than my kids did. That is an anecdote. The info. I posted before was factual items which you can choose to ignore but they are still measurable, and factual. (If you can Factually disprove it, I welcome the challenge).
St Cats, Prairie and Lutheran all have higher Grad rates and college placements than Park, Horlick, and Case. Would you like to show me facts that disprove that??? Now if you want to compare St. Cats and Verona High School u might not have as big of a difference, but in Urban areas, the facts are undeniable, except by narrow minded educators protecting their fat (taxpayer provided) benefit programs and inflated salaries. What say U Anon?

Michael, don't argue with fools, people might not know the difference.

Clearly what Denis and others like him advocate is another tactic to disenfranchise voters, and keeping new and young voters like yourself as far away from the political process as possible. Urban Pioneer says Voces de la Frontera support illegal aliens, what he fails to recall is that illegal aliens have flocked to this country for centuries, italians, irish, russians, and a host of other european immigrants invaded this country. Italians brought the mob to the US in the 20s & 30s and brought with them some of the most violent times and rampant illegal activities in America's history. Entire cities and economies were born because of thier illicit activities.

The most recent invasion has been brown-skinned africans, hispanics, cubans and the like, only now is immigration a concern all of a sudden. More republican ideology at work here.

Regarding public schools, urban pioneer, you're still blowing hot air. Micheal Gibson himself is a product of a consistently high achieving public school, most recently acknowledged by the state of wisconsin as a high performing school, but of course his and his schools high level of achievement get overlooked by the stereotypes...Keep up the good work at Walden Micheal!

Funny stuff! Where to start though. . .

Aliens coming to the U.S. until relatively recently were documented and became naturalized; they did not sneak across the border. The Italians did not "bring the mob to the U.S. in the 20s and 30s", indigenous crime elements - with later support of the Sicilian mafia when they started selling drugs but that came later - became stronger when the Wilson administration, under pressure from a number of groups, pressured the Supreme Court to hear arguments about banning the manufacture and sale of alcohol. The mob had fertile territory for a rich market of drinkers. Just another example of a policy based upon the notion that one end of a balloon can be squeezed without the other end expanding.

I'm thrilled that Walden is full of high achievers, but I recall little Mikey turning in a paper about how George Bush stole the election - with a YouTube video as his reference - so forgive me if I have a few questions about the education there. Actually I don't need to be forgiven.

Yes, Republican ideology that rewards hard work, helps those who CAN'T help themselves, and hates the thought of helping those who WON'T help themselves.

Don't treat me like a child. The youtube video I posted on here was a trailer for a longer documentary that I watched and used for my report. If you would have actually watched the video before blindly criticizing me you would know that. I can assure you that if anyone ever used a youtube video as a reference on a thesis paper they would be asked to find a better source.

Well Mikey, if you are under eighteen then you are a child. Some - actually many - of your arguments are childlike too but that's OK, if you get into college you'll get better. I recall the YouTube thing but didn't know that you actually watched a much longer video to write your paper. Bravo! Was this the only source for the paper or did you also reference some work by MoveOn.org? Obama used to claim that he was a professor of constitutional law until someone checked, found out it was a lie, and the Obama website was modified to say he was lecturer - maybe he wrote something about W stealing the election too. No wait, Obama never published anything except two books - and books aren't peer reviewed. How did I get on that? Sorry -

Two words. Keating Scandal...oops did i say that.

The "maverick" voted with Bush 90% of the time, now that's acting mavericky isn't it!

Anonymous said...

. . . and like Democrats voted with that Bush dude 90% of the time - see we have this like bicameral legislature, an executive and a totally big court. Without the executive and legislature agreeing, unless the latter can override what we call a veto by that executive dude, well then like laws and budgets don't get passed. Cool huh?

It's funny that Anonymous is so worried about children, however when they come up with a completely valid comment they are shot down...

Shannon - McCain was exonerated by a Senate panel, so you can live in your own little self-congratulatory world if you like. Try Googling "Tony Rezko" and see what you find. Try "Rahm Emanuel" too.

And as a matter of fact I am worried about children. We do not fear you - we fear for you. I am married but have no children (and won't in the future) yet still (happily) pay for children like you to go to school. I don't agree with some of the instruction you are getting. I want children to be given facts and taught to be free-thinkers, not that the liberal mindset is the only mindset. If one is taught facts and free-thinking and ends up being a communist that's fine - I respect that and so will any true Americans.
